Colva beach is one of those beaches in this small Indian state of Goa that is developing at a very good pace.
About 2 km away from Colva beach is the Benaulim beach, which is more peaceful and serene than the Colva beach. Benaulim provides an escape to see nature in its full bounty with few tourists to disturb its peace. One can still see spot old Portuguese houses.
With virgin white sands spreading out to 20kms, lush green palm trees swaying
gently, this sun drenched Colva beach is the one of the most loved beach of the
tourists. Walk through the beach bare feet and feel the shells touching you. You
also come across small stalls that offer food and drinks. Having dinner in one
of those shacks on a moonlit night can beat any candlelight dinner in a good
restaurant.
Apart from the beach, you can also visit the Nossa Senhora de Merces (Our Lady of Mercy) Church. This church is famous for its annual religious event-Fama of Menino Jesuse (Child Jesus)-since the 17th century. The predominantly Catholic community celebrates it on the third Monday of October every year. It is one of Goa's most popular feasts and a big fair is held on the occasion.
