GOA AGUADA BEACH
Goa Aguada beach is situated in the north of Goa. Aguada beach in the Indian state of Goa is quite a frequented beach. Tourists flock towards Goa Aguada beach to catch the magnificent view that Fort Aguada offers of the sea and the beach. Apart from the fort, once you are at Aguada beach, there are several interesting churches that are worth a visit.

Goa Aguada beach is made special by the Fort Aguada. The Fort of Aguada was built by the Portuguese to control the entry of the enemy into River Mandovi and to protect old Goa from attacks. The fortification skirts the seashore. From the ramparts of Fort Aguada, you can get a fantastic view of the golden beaches running right up to the borders of the Indian state Maharashtra. At the center of the fort is a circular lighthouse tower which was built in 1864. If you can manage to reach the top of the lighthouse, then you can catch some excellent view of the Cabo Raj Niwas. The Fort presently houses the central jail.

The main attractions while at Aguada beach are Fort Aguada and Reis Magos Fort. While Fort Aguada is know to soothe your eyes with delightful views of Aguada beach, Reis Magos fort looks over the Reis Magos church that is definitely worth a visit. This church, built in 1555, offers a fantastic view of the Mandovi river. Once you enter the church, you will be surrounded by shades of all possible colours. Reis Magos church houses the tombs of three viceroys.

Aguada beach is almost synonymous with the top-notch Fort Aguada Hotel complex, a superb hotel that is built on the cliff, around the remnants of this early 17th century Portuguese fort. Although access to the beach is not possible through the hotel grounds, which are private, you can walk along Aguada beach, for in India private beaches do not exist. The hotel has been constructed in three parts, consisting of expensive cottages on the upper reaches of the hillside, the fort jutting out to sea, and a delightful Goan village, with individual cottages

To reach Goa Aguada beach, it is always better to arrange your own means of transport. You can either hire a taxi or a motorbike. You can rent the bikes on a daily charge basis, the charges ranging from Rs 300 to 400. Goa Aguada beach is situated 4km from Sinquerim beach and few buses from Panaji can drop you somewhere close to Aguada beach.
